I have been lucky enough to have one (bamboo fleece) for around a week now. Having recently purchased a set of Aden + Anais muslin wraps, I am an instant convert and also have all of my friends buying them like there’s no tomorrow.

With fantastic colours and designs – and their groovy new zoo animals design – I was spoilt for choice. They are super soft and a nice close weave, but still allow breathing.

Otherwise known as swaddling clothes, the muslin wraps are a sensational size – a very generous 120cm x 120cm (approx). No more escaping for my little tot!!

Aside from swaddling, the wrap can also be used as an open sheet, on the floor for tummy time and as a stroller shade (drapes nicely given its large sizing).

You may think muslin in muslin, right? Wrong!
There are so many scratchy, poorly woven and super tiny muslin wraps on the market that resemble hessian. So do you self a favour and discover aden and anais. Which by the way are two ex aussies living in the US and were horrified when they discovered they couldn’t get any half decent muslin in the states.

There is also a winter weight which consists of several layers of the same soft muslin, still allowing baby’s body temperature to adjust naturally without overheating and I was pleasantly surprised when I saw them at the pregnancy and baby expo in Melbourne. You Name Our Softies At Styled Baby

Over at styledbaby we have just got our first shipment of these baby owl and giraffe rattles that are just so adorable that they have to have super cute names.

We will be naming each of our baby rattles after the newborn in which he or she were first purchased for.

They are handmade in the Canada by a very talented SAHM and they need new homes.

Why Bamboo?

Bamboo is, in my opinion where babies clothing and bedding is heading, and will be a main stream material, it’s just a matter of time.

Bamboo ticks all the box’s and some that were never on the list before.

Firstly it is eco friendly

Bamboo grows to maturity within 4 to 5 years, and is self generating. Bamboo grows without the aid of fertilizers and insecticides (cotton growing accounts for a reported 25% of the world’s fertilizers and insecticides usage) Bamboo is the world’s most sustainable plant, It also releases 35% more oxygen than equivalent stands of trees.

Bamboo 100% biodegradable and non-toxic: As a natural cellulose fiber, bamboo is 100% biodegradable and the decomposition process does not cause any pollution to the environment.

Great for baby

Bamboo is soft and silky to touch, bamboo has natural wicking properties, meaning that it absorbs moisture – like sweat, away from you babies skin and evaporates it quickly, and is lightweight, very breathable and hypoallergenic, which is great news for babies with eczema and other skin conditions. Bamboo fibre is also a natural UV protective qualities.

Bamboo is anti-bacterial, with a 70% elimination rate when incubated with bacteria, even after 50 washes.
